Tristan Pasterick: Resident Funny Man

"It’s difficult for me to pay attention for long periods of time, and since sketch comedy moves along to the next joke so quickly, it makes for a much more enjoyable experience.”

He’s a caveman. No, wait, he’s actually a pancake-making genie. Just kidding. A kid with a nacho tortilla hose? Whatever he is, Cartoon Network’s Incredible Crew star TRISTAN PASTERICK makes the 90s kid in us squirm with excitement. Oh, he’s half-Filipino, too.

Hey, Tristan! What have you been up to lately?

I have been enjoying the cold weather in LA while it lasts!

What do you enjoy the most about sketch comedy?

The thing I enjoy most about sketch comedy is how fast-paced it is. It’s difficult for me to pay attention for long periods of time, and since sketch comedy moves along to the next joke so quickly, it makes for a much more enjoyable experience.

How did you get your foot into acting?

I first started taking acting classes in Seattle. From there I made my way to a convention held by that school in Las Vegas where I was able to get in front of agents and managers. After receiving a few callbacks from agents, I was fortunate enough to stay with my aunt while I got a feel for LA. My amazing family is the only reason I’ve been able to pursue this career. My parents have believed in me since the beginning and done everything in their power to help me since day one. My aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents have offered the same support and it wouldn’t be possible without them.

What has it been like working with Nick Cannon for Incredible Crew? Has he given you any advice on improv comedy?

Working with Nick has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life. He’s been a great mentor and shared a lot of his knowledge with me and the rest of the crew in many more fields than just improv.

Do you get to input your own ideas into some of the sketches?

Quite frequently we like to “Ad Lib” and, more often than not, it is accepted and used in that take. We aren’t exactly able to change major parts of a script but our suggestions are usually considered.

Other than the cast, what else about the show is “incredible?” Give 5 things and a brief explanation for each.

1. Our writing staff is one of the biggest reasons Incredible Crew is so awesome! They are the masterminds behind everything you see on the screen.
2. Our director Danny J. Boyle has taught me so much in the short time we worked together. Without him, how you see Incredible Crew would be in a completely different light.
3. Nick Cannon! That one is pretty self-explanatory. He has been such a huge influence on the cast, and without him, I still wouldn’t know much about sketch comedy.
4. Crafty! From morning coffee, to a late night snack, craft service has been my best friend all trough filming!
5. The crew! No, not that crew, the other crew! The camera department, the grips, the PA’s, all the guys that truly make the show come together. They truly are incredible!

How would you describe yourself on and off the show?

On the show, I play a plethora of completely crazy characters in unbelievable situations. Off the show, I lead a pretty normal life. I keep to myself most of the time, however I always seem to get caught in very unique situations.

At your age, how do you balance work and school?

Truthfully, it’s not easy. Working takes a lot out of you, and to try and put school on top of that makes for some really tough times. Not to mention trying to leave time to relax, be with friends or family, and spend time doing regular people things.

What keeps you busy when you’re not working?

When I’m not working, I spend a healthy amount of time with my family. We are a huge, very close, Filipino family. So I find myself—nearly every day—going out to a movie or having dinner with a different family member. Other than that, I spend quite a bit of time building/upgrading PCs. That goes hand in hand with gaming (which I spend far too much time doing). I’m also a pianist, and now that its winter, I’ve been getting back into snowboarding!

Noah Lomax Talks ‘The Walking Dead’ & Gerard Butler Versus Josh Duhamel

He might only be ten years old, but actor Noah Lomax has already gotten to work with Gerard Butler, Jessica Biel and Josh Duhamel, not to mention getting a nice arc in season one of The Walking Dead! He started his career with Army Wives and quickly moved on to Drop Dead Diva before landing the envious spot on Walking Dead, but as we know that no one’s safe on that show so he last three episodes. Much longer than many adults have, especially this season!

Lomax talks about working with Gerard Butler and still not being old enough to have seen his most famous film 300 and taking on Josh Duhamel which you can see in the video clip below. He’ll be seen in the upcoming Nicholas Sparks film Safe Haven in February, but you can see what else he had to say about playing with the Dead.

BEST MOVIES EVER: What was it like working on The Walking Dead? Did you get the full zombie makeup treatment?

NOAH LOMAX: I really loved being on “The Walking Dead,” I played the son of Morales. My sister had a bigger role than I did on the show, but I was still on set everyday. It was really cool to see the zombies! Sometimes between scenes you would see them playing cards, or sleeping. A lot of the time there were dead dummies on set and we would be walking to our trailer and see a dead body [dummy] outside of the trailer. It was crazy. One time there was a sleeping zombie in the cooling tent, and my sister and I couldn’t tell if it was real- or fake. So – I decided to kick it in the leg, and she woke up right before I kicked her – so I just missed kicking the actor!

BME: Had you seen any of Gerard Butler’s movies before working with him on Playing For Keeps?

NL: I had not seen any of his movies, I am too young I guess! My mom showed me a few of his movies including “P.S. I Love You” and “The Ugly Truth” before we started working together.

BME: What was your favorite movie of his?

NL: Well, I heard that “300″ is really good, but my mom says I am still too young to see it.

BME: Did you do any preparation to get into this role or does just playing a son come easy for you?

NL: I didn’t really need to do too much preparation to play Lewis, we are a lot alike. Being a son was easy, because I am a son! Hahaha

BME: Do you think if your family hadn’t had to move from Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina you still would have the career you have now with two feature films under your belt?

NL: I don’t think so. I started acting, because my sister started acting and she looked like she was having so much fun. She signed up for acting classes, and I would go with her to auditions and it looked interesting to me.

BME: How different are the roles you play in Playing For Keeps and Safe Haven?

NL: The roles I play are very different. Lewis in “Playing for Keeps” was a happy kid, who loves to play sports. He has to deal with divorce, and wanting to be with his dad, and his dad keeps letting him down. In “Safe Haven,” I play Josh, who is a kid who is sad and angry that his mom died of cancer. He has a great dad, but Josh blames him for his mom being gone. Josh was interesting to play because he was so angry with his father and dealing with a lot of emotions.

BME: Who was the cooler dad in the two films. Gerard Butler or Josh Duhamel?

NL: Mr. Gerry and Mr. Josh were both pretty cool. I really enjoyed being with them. Mr. Gerry and I played soccer and trained together. Mr. Josh and I had did a lot of different things together… he took my sister and I to the beach and we trained for football and rode the waves. We would also do this arm/hand battle – you can look it up on YouTube, the video is called “soft-shell Duhamel and bad ass Lomax.” It is pretty cool!

BME: When you’re not acting, what do you do for fun?

NL: I play football, basketball – pretty much anything that has to do with a ball. I also like taking hip hop dance classes, love playing outside with my friends and hanging out with my family, and dog.

BME: It’s great you’re working with Soccer For Hope. What can you tell our readers about that organization that might get them to also want to be involved in it?

NL: Soccer for Hope is an awesome organization that helps raise awareness and cancer research for kids. Soccer For Hope was started because my best friend, Abella, who is also fighting cancer had her little brother lose the battle against cancer at the age of three. Kids battling cancer just want to experience everyday fun kid activities, and not be treated different. This organization holds soccer events so that kids can have fun with other kids and not think about cancer.

BME: What films or tv shows do you have coming up next?

NL: My next film is “Safe Haven,” which will be out in theaters on February 14, 2013. The movie is based on a Nicolas Sparks book. I really enjoyed shooting this film because I spent my time in Southport, North Carolina which is near the coast — so I got to fish and go to the beach the entire summer!

Yahoo! Voices interview with Noah Lomax

Noah Lomax is a child actor who has been in some great shows. You might have seen him on The Walking Dead, The Middle, and Army Wives. Now Lomax will be in his first film, Playing for Keeps alongside Gerard Butler and Jessica Biel. Noah plays the role of Lewis who is the son to Butler's and Biel's characters. Next year he will star in a film with Josh Duhamel and Cobie Smulders called Safe Haven. I was able to talk with the young actor about his upcoming roles and who he would love to play in a superhero film when he gets older.

Art Eddy: Can you tell me about the film and your role in "Playing for Keeps" that comes out December 7th?

Noah Lomax: Well I play the son of Gerard Butler's character. His name is Lewis and Gerard's character is named George. George is a retired soccer player. The film is about George, who gets divorced, but he wants to regain his relationship with his son and wife. He becomes his son's soccer coach and all the kids and mothers start to like him. He has to make a decision if he wants start again with his family or move on.

AE: How was it to play this role of Lewis?

NL: It was really cool to play that role. It was actually pretty big since it was my first movie role. Gerard was really nice to work with on the film. I actually had to learn how to play soccer, since there were no stunt doubles to do moves. We had a trainer that showed us how to do certain moves. It was pretty cool.

AE: The film has a great cast with Jessica Biel, Gerard Butler, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Dennis Quaid, and Uma Thurman. How was it to work with a great set of actors?

NL: I really enjoyed working with all of those people on the set. Catherine Zeta-Jones was joking around with me on the set. She asked if I wanted a manicure. She made me laugh. I was glad I was able to work with them while filming the movie.

AE: Did you receive any advice from those actors on the set?

NL: Not really. They did not coach me or anything, but I did watch and learn from them. I did learn a couple things from them while being on set.

AE: How did you get the part Lewis? How was the audition process like?

NL: I did have to audition for the role. After the first part of auditions I had to do a chemistry read with Gerard. It was great to meet him because I knew who he was. I have never seen him in films that much, but he does more of the films that adults watch and not kid movies.

AE: You have been in the hit TV show "The Walking Dead". How was it to work on that show?

NL: It was really awesome to how they shot all the different scenes. I liked to watch the actors get ready for scenes with all the different make-up and to see all the zombies on set. It was cool to see how they did all the work for that show.

AE: How did you get into acting?

NL: Well my sister started before me. Later on my parents asked me if I wanted to act and I told them I did. So I tried it out and that is how it started. It is fun to act, but it is hard to remember lines. I like to be on set and to see how they do everything to make a show or movie.

AE: You also will be staring in the film "Safe Haven" with Josh Duhamel and Cobie Smulders. What is your role in that film?

NL: I play a character named Josh. This character is very sad since his mother died and he is mad at the world. He doesn't talk a lot but he fishes a lot. It was great to work with the actors for that film. Everyone was really nice to me. There was a scene where my character falls into the water. I enjoyed doing that scene.

AE: What are you looking to do next in your career?

NL: When I get older I want to do a superhero movie.

AE: Nice. I like it. What superhero would you like to play in the film?

NL: Batman! I liked all three of the Christian Bale Batman movies.

Noah Lomax's interview with KidzWorld

Noah Lomax stars alongside Gerard Butler and Jessica Biel in Playing for Keeps, a heartwarming story about a boy getting to know his dad that comes out December 7th. Find out more in Kidzworld's Q&A with Noah Lomax!

KW: How old are you and where are you from?

Noah: I just turned 11 years old. I was born in New Orleans but have been living in Atlanta since I was 5 years old

KW: How did you get started acting?

Noah: My sister was the one who started acting first. I think she got stopped in a mall, one day and was asked if she wanted to be an actor, but she always wanted to do it. She started acting a little bit, and then I decided I wanted to do it too…it looked like fun.

KW: You're in the movie Playing for Keeps coming out in December, what's the movie about?

Noah: The movie is about a famous retired soccer professional who has not been a great dad or husband and he ends up coaching his son’s soccer team to try to patch things up with his son and get his life back. But he gets distracted by the moms of my character’s [Lewis] teammates!

KW: How do you relate to your character in Playing for Keeps?

Noah: Well, Lewis and I are a lot alike. He is a normal kid that likes to play with his friends and play soccer. I also like to play sports and hang out with my friends, but I cannot relate to his family life, because my mom and dad are happily married.

KW: You got to work with Jessica Biel and Gerard Butler, what was that like?

Noah: They were really nice! They played with me a lot on set. Gerry and I practiced soccer together and that was really fun. They are like normal people and I don’t really see them as being “stars”. Jess and I liked to be goofy like one time we were doing a scene where we were sitting in a car and singing the song “Pump Up the Jam.” It was a lot of fun.

KW: You're in another film called Safe Haven coming out February, what is it about?

Noah: It’s about a woman who is abused by her husband and she escapes to a small town where she meets Josh Duhamel’s character, who is widowed with two kids and they start to form a relationship. I play Josh’s son in the film, who has a hard time dealing with his mom being gone and his dad’s interest in another woman.

KW: You've had roles on a number of TV shows, what has been your favorite so far?

Noah: I would say The Walking Dead. It was a small role, but it is a great show and I loved the zombies. I really liked seeing how they made people into zombies, great make up, and all the fight scenes.

KW: What kind of roles would you like to do in the future?

Noah: I have always wanted to be in a super hero movie where they shoot on a green screen and have different special effects. I don’t care if I am the super hero or villain but it would be kinda cool to be the villain.

KW: Which actors do you look up to?

Noah: I would like to work with Christian Bale because he plays Batman.I've seen all the Batman movies, and he played Batman/ Bruce Wayne the best.  I really like how he acts like Batman and makes you forget that he is an actor. His fight scenes are very believable.

KW: What's the best piece of advice you've received since starting out in showbiz?

Noah: Make sure you keep doing the other things you like to do. I still play football!
